Barum for On- and Off-Road Use

Hanover/ Essen, June 2004: With the BS 72 model Barum offers a traction tire – in three sizes – for use on medium-weight trucks operated on- and off-road. Barum offers an even wider selection, though,  including the new BU 53, on-/off-road tire.

The Barum range for heavy commercial vehicles includes 16 tread pattern versions with 20 and 22.5-inch diameters. The brand stands for especially economical use and high quality products for local and long-distance haulage.

The BS 72 model is a sturdy traction tire that provides the desired propulsion even on difficult terrain. That´s because its tread blocks work together with wide, deep tread grooves to guarantee good grip. At the same time, the tire center, which is closed off from the shoulders, ensures good mileage performance and good road handling characteristics. Its special tread compound renders the tire resistant to mechanical injury, e.g. from sharp-edged stones.

The BS 72 is, among other things, a suitable fitment alternative for cement mixers or dump trucks in use on construction sites. It is available in the following sizes:

• 12 R 22.5 152/ 148 K
• 13 R 22.5 154/ 150 K

BF 12 – the steering-axle tire for short and long haulage:

A wide rib tread pattern on the BF 12 provides for excellent mileage performance. The tire´s reduced rolling resistance translates into good fuel-economy. Its tread pattern design guarantees reliable braking, precise steering response and low rolling noise. A special groove structure largely prevents stones from becoming lodged in the tread, thereby ensuring high value carcass retention for subsequent retreading of the tire. With the BF 15 model, a successor to the BF 12 is in the offing.

BF 13 – 20-inch steering axle tire for local use

As economical front-axle tire for local haulage, the Barum BF 13 exhibits good mileage and convincing handling characteristics. It is suitable, nonetheless, for fitment in all positions and can be supplied in the sizes

NR 32 – steering-axle tire for on-road use

In addition to the BF 13, Barum also carries the NR 32 model as steering-axle tire for economical on-road use. It is likewise suitable for fitment as all-around tire on all axle positions in size

BD 21 – all-year tire for the drive axle

Suitable for local and long-distance haulage, the BD 21 provides awesome mileage performance thanks to a deep and wide-based tread. The numerous traverse edges interplay with the sipes to guarantee good traction in all-year service. The special tread block arrangement provides for low rolling noise. The BD 21 is available in size 11 R 22.5 148/145 L

BD 22 – drive-axle tire for local and overland haulage

The combination of wide, flat tire contour and optimized compound makes the BD 22 a high-miler. It holds out longer and exhibits uniform wear. This drive-axle tire of outstanding winter suitability generates good traction thanks to the inclined arrangement of its tread blocks. Its solid shoulders enable it to roll quietly. The BD 22 can be supplied in the following sizes:

• 295/80 R 22.5 152/ 148 M
• 315/80 R 22.5 154/ 150 M (156/150 L)
• 12 R 22.5 152/ 148 L

NR 52 – for trailers

Maximum load-carrying capacity and optimum durability are the two salient characteristics of the NR 52. The provisions taken to prevent stones from becoming wedged in the grooves ensure that the value of the carcass is retained for subsequent retreading.

BT 43 – for all trailer axles

The BT 43 is suitable for all trailers in on-road use. The high proportion of land in the tread guarantees excellent mileage, while the modern tread pattern design ensures good directional stability. And the grooves are designed in such a way as to hinder stones from getting caught - for the protection of the carcass.

BT 41 – for trailers in long- and short-distance use

The BT 41 model provides a long service life and low rolling resistance. This makes it an especially economical solution for both long and short distances. The tread pattern displays good self-cleaning properties.

BU 53 – on- and off-road tire for universal use

The special tread pattern on the new BU 53, for on- and off-road use, very effectively prevents stones from becoming lodged in the grooves. The solidly designed shoulder ensures a high degree of vehicle directional stability. It is available in the following sizes:

BU 52 – for all-around use, even on construction sites

NR 49 – economical traction tire
